Being Thankful

Yesterday afternoon I was in one my my funks I get into being tired and the kids not doing what I want them to do.  Frankly I was getting angry and discouraged.  (Ok they needed to take naps, and eventually all of us did even mom and dad.)

So instead of getting angry I got remembering that I should be thankful.  Boy did that get rid of the anger fast.

Here is a list of some of the thing I am thankful for

  • I have kids that I can get mad at, when others may just be wishing for one kid of their own
  • I have a bed with blankets to sleep in.  Russ and I do need a new bed, but I am thankful for the one I have.  It is better than sleeping on the floor with or without blankets.
  • I have a secure job.  While I may not always like the shifts I am assigned, I have a good job. So many these days are looking for one.
  • We have a variety of foods to eat.  So just have a choice of 1 or 2 foods.
  • We have the option and can afford to send our son to a private school.  Others are just looking for a way to get an education.  It is a stretch each month to pay the bill, but we can.
  • We have a vehicle to drive.  It may not be the exact one we want to have, and we would like to have another.  We still have one and it gets me faithfully to work, 30 miles away and has space to transport the entire family.
  • We have a roof over our heads and heat.  Yes we would like to own our own home, but we are thankful for what we have.  With the way the economy is we can be thankful to have a house to live in a heat.

Thanksgiving, Shopping, and Christmas Projects

We had a nice Thanksgiving considering I had to work. We went down to Lansing on Tuesday evening to stay at my in-laws. Wednesday we were able to spend time with my dad and family, Thursday Russ was with his parents and extended family. Friday we were able to go over to friends house that Tyler loves to play with their kids. Now they need to come up and visit us.

Friday morning after I got back from work, Russ, William (because he was awake when we were leaving), and I headed out to the Black Friday sales. We managed to go to 3 stores as they opened, Kohl’s, Walmart, and JoAnn Fabric. Kohl’s was too crazy for us and we weren’t really looking for anything there. Walmart, Russ got the GPS he has been wanting for a long time and I got a new camera. (We were given our Christmas money early from one family). JoAnn’s I made out well, 6 different cuts of flannel for making PJ pants for, Russ, my sister, and myself. I will post pictures later.

Friday, my mother-in-law and I headed over to Threadbear. It was fun to just go and brouse through that store. I did get the yarn to make one of my sister’s Christmas present. I was hard to decide what to make since I just got a solid color, but I really like the pattern I chose and how it is working up. Hopefully I can finnish all my Christmas projects before Christmas. I have lots to do.

Remember my project list I posted a while ago. I should go through and edit it and figure out what still I need to do. Some of the things on the list I am not going to do anymore, and of course more have been added.

Trick or Treat

Tyler loved Trick or Treating last night. I was originally planing on making him some scrubs and letting him use my stethoscope. A couple weeks ago, I made the mistake of asking him what he wanted to be for Halloween just after they had talked about being a handyman like Handy Manny on Disney Channel. He wanted to be like Handy Manny. I never did make the dig through the toys like I wanted, so Tyler ended up getting a new toy tool set from Walmart. He can give you each of the character names from Handy Manny. He loves his new tools. He had to have his pencil behind his ear.

William was a little bear. My friend Carolynn was nice enough to loan me a costume that she had used for her son. Isn’t he cute.

Mom and Dad were just wet parents since it rained at the beginning of Trick or Treating. We did go to Trunk or Treat at our church. I think both the boys had a good time last night though Tyler was almost more excited about his new toys than the candy.
